Aaaaaaand we’re back on air.
The last, first semester of school ever. That’s pretty freaking wild. Time to design the most amazing things I can think of, and start looking for placement opportunities. How very exciting!!

If you don’t know, I love photography, and I love people. So I often take photos of people! a seperate tumblr is dedicated to that, and you can check it out here!

I did an engagement photoshoot today and had such a blast!! Check out the tumblr to see other shoots!

One of my biggest projects this year is my Thesis project, where I get to choose anything I want, and do anything i want! I have decided to rebrand and redesign The Bookshelf in Guelph, it is such a cute and home-like place that I can’t decide the style or look yet but I am excited to have a direction!

I took a look at the place today and met some of the super nice staff, even the owner! I’m really excited to work with real people to make this work for their target market and maybe even have them use it!
I am also working on another project, one of my 10 ongoing ones.. it’s to redesign a book. Layout, cover, spreads, retake the photos, or illustrate it, revise the copy and fix mistakes and just make it look beautiful. I’m doing the book, The Liveable City by Leon Whiteson.

It’s all about Toronto, the places to see with interesting stories, and the feel of the neighbourhoods. I know nothing about Toronto and I think this will be a great way to learn and see the places I live near. The book is from 1982 and so aside from being in black and white, the architecture and layout of the city has changed! It’s super neat to see the old photos in the book and look up at the modern and new building standing in the same spot. Time to get to work, and then off for some cake thanks to my brother’s special 19th birthday!
I had the most amazing Friday yesterday. Amazing because I did absolutely nothing. I honestly couldn’t remember the last time I slept in, and i also could not remember the last time I had a day off from everything. It was delicious. I ate some good food, stayed comfortably in bed till who knows when, had more good food, and then had a family movie night with some blankets. The movie was True Lies and yes, I know it’s like 17 years old but I hadn’t seen it! It was hilarious and I loved it.
But, Friday came to a close with some guilty feelings of not coming in to do anything productive, so here I am on Saturday morning. Currently, I’m working on a way to make a current package more sustainable and eco friendly, whether that means there’s just LESS packaging, or made out of recycled materials, it’ll depend on the produc I choose.
At noon I’ll be heading out to devour some sushi at my faaaaaaaaavourite place, Niko Niko, then, I will walk the aisles of some stores and see if I can find a package I feel could be kinder to the environment, and then it’s back to the GD wing for more designing. I’m both nervous and excited about this weekend, knowing how many projects are on the go.. but I am excited about the process. Design is just too much fun, even on Saturdays.
my town’s pretty quiet most of the time, nothing ever really happens here, except in october. we have the largest oktoberfest celebration after germany’s and that’s wild! last night my boyfriend and i when on a night stroll of some of the busy tents and not so busy fair rides in the city. def should have more night strolls. i almost felt like i was in a scary movie with those old fair rides and creepy street games that no one ever wins, with those prizes of giant stuffed animals that are way too big to fit in anyone’s room! crazy. anyway, still had a really good time!

it’s such a gorgeous day outside. the wind isn’t being obnoxious, and the sun is reliving it’s summer days. for some reason, unknown, i am here in my classroom working on assignments, listening to music, and now writing on tumblr. but it’s the long weekend, and i think it’s time for a day off. at least part of the day off. i will go home soon, and just BE. because i don’t do that enough. i will have no plan, i will make no to do lists, i will just BE, and it will be amazing i’m sure. maybe i’ll take a walk.. maybe i’ll take some photos, maybe i’ll just dance, whatever the case, i will enjoy today. i wish you all a merry thanksgiving day, may we all stuff our faces with turkey!
“Michelle and I are saddened to learn of the passing of Steve Jobs. Steve was among the greatest of American innovators - brave enough to think differently, bold enough to believe he could change the world, and talented enough to do it.
By building one of the planet’s most successful companies from his garage, he exemplified the spirit of American ingenuity. By making computers personal and putting the internet in our pockets, he made the information revolution not only accessible, but intuitive and fun. And by turning his talents to storytelling, he has brought joy to millions of children and grownups alike. Steve was fond of saying that he lived every day like it was his last. Because he did, he transformed our lives, redefined entire industries, and achieved one of the rarest feats in human history: he changed the way each of us sees the world.
The world has lost a visionary. And there may be no greater tribute to Steve’s success than the fact that much of the world learned of his passing on a device he invented. Michelle and I send our thoughts and prayers to Steve’s wife Laurene, his family, and all those who loved him.”
